Mikayla's Room

Lindsey and Dave asked us to paint a nursery for their upcoming arrival, Mikayla.  Lindsey wanted it to be a room that she could grow into.  She had bedding from Pottery Barn that served as our inspiration.

Mommy, baby and Daddy owl.
Lindsey requested a little squirrel with a crown.  Too cute.

Butterflies to match the bedding.

It's hard to tell in the pictures, but there are sparkles added to the paint on the butterflies.  Our first try at this Valspar product.  While they are subtle, that do add a little something special.

The tree was getting a bit crowded so we employed these birds to hold up Mikayla's name.

Sometimes it's the little details that make it special.  A snail rounds off the room's new inhabitants.

Just one more special touch: Dave + Lindsey = Love.  Awww.

Nicole's Living Room

An accent wall in my living room using high gloss paint over eggshell paint.
My living room was due for a change and I've been wanting to try out the gloss paint over flat paint technique for a while now.  Pinterest was a great source for inspiration.  This was my favorite design and while I intend to try that pattern out at some point, I had something else in mind for this project.
Here is the original living room.  I never really liked this green six years ago but I was waiting until I knew for sure what I wanted to replace it with.  I can't say my husband was thrilled with the idea of purple but he's a good sport.

I drew out the image I wanted and then used my new projector to trace it onto the wall.  This was the most time consuming part.  Getting used to using the projector proved to be difficult and I contemplated free handing the shapes but I wanted more control over the size and uniformity.

Here is the finished product.  I'm really happy with the way that it turned out.  I used a eggshell paint and glossy paint and the effect was way too subtle for me.  So I ended up adding some black to the glossy paint to darken it a little.

Donovan's Toy Box

Our wonderful cousin Susie is having a baby soon and we knew we had to make something special.  She's too cool of a cousin to just buy something from the registry.  So we asked what she would want and she challenged us with the Muppets Band.  What a fun project!
With so many colors, we wanted to find a way to incorporate this into the Donovan's room.  His bedding was earth tones and baby blue so we used that same blue in the background and name and opted to stain the rest of the toy box to match his furniture.

For quality assurance, we do have adorable children test out our products before distribution.

Our beautiful cousin Susie accepting our gift.  We hope Donovan loves it.

The finished product.

Propel Elementary Teacher's Lounge

We were asked to make the teacher's lounge at Propel Braddock Hills Elementary school "homier".  We worked with the light blue wall color that was already there.

We incorporated their logo which is the little guy with the star.  We did two to make it a little more interesting.

We chose a dark chocolately purple for the chalk board that we made from wall paint and unsanded grout (  It worked out great!

We hope the teachers enjoy what we added to their room.

Nicole's Dining Room

It's nice to tackle a painting project that isn't kid themed for once.  I've been wanting to add birch trees to my dining room walls ever since I read Jen's post years ago.  While I didn't use her template, I did use her idea.  I think her rendition is better, but I really do love how this turned out.
It's a nice background for my favorite of our wedding photos.
